She worked for CNN, CNN International and HLN, forecasting both domestic and international weather. Right after graduation, Melissa joined CNN as a meteorologist and weather producer, covering all major weather events in 2013.

While at Georgia Tech, Melissa interned at 11-Alive News, CNN and was a student assistant to the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.ĭuring her senior year, she participated in a professional internship at the National Weather Service Office in Peachtree City, Georgia. Melissa attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences with Honor.Īt Georgia Tech, she was a member of the prestigious Georgia Tech Honors Program and a member and officer of Students Observing and Researching Meteorology (StORM), the local American Meteorological Society (AMS) Georgia Tech student chapter. Melissa was also a participant in the Women, Science and Technology Program at Tech and a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. In 7th grade, she decided to pursue a career in meteorology. Melissa remembers those who helped fuel her passion along the way, and her ultimate goal is to be a positive influence on the younger generation and the community she serves. Growing up, Melissa would practice giving weather forecasts on her back deck. She fell in love with weather at an early age. With a cup of coffee and a smile, she helped viewers plan their day and was a constant source of information when severe or active weather was in the area.
